For self storage auction goers part of the thrill in bidding is that you don’t know for certain what you are getting. You essentially make an educated guess from what you can see from the doorway. If bidders were allowed to see what was inside most of the units would go for next to nothing. With the holidays coming up a few self storage facilities in Virginia have decided to set up a different kind of shopping experience. [More]

Years ago, my aunt read a book called Clutter’s Last Stand by Don Aslett. She loved that book because it helped her figure out ways to de-junk and de-clutter her home. SpareFoot in Austin, Texas, is providing impetus (like the book did for my aunt) to help people ‘clear that clutter’ from their home.
SpareFoot is sponsoring a ‘Clear that Clutter’ sweepstakes to help consumers win the war against their stuff that is stuffed all over their home and garage. People can enter the sweepstakes from now until December 15. The winner of the sweepstakes will get up to six months’ worth of storage from SpareFoot in the form of a $500 Visa gift card. [More]

Christmas trees, holiday decorations, music, wassail, sugary treats, shopping, Santa Claus. Add all of these together and they help to make a merry and jolly Christmas holiday season. But, what if you took them away? Would there still be Christmas?

Routines are a fact of life, but can be dangerous if you are not careful. Get in the wrong routine and you can find yourself just going through the motions and not making the most of your time. At one time ocean going merchant vessels had large crews on board in order to operate the ship as it travelled from point A to point B. However, over time technology advanced to the point where 700 foot container ships could be efficiently operated by a skeleton crew of less than 20 people. Technology can do wonders like it has for shipping and is in the process of doing for the self storage industry as well. [More]

You can’t kill two birds with one stone. That us a very common and popular saying that people use all the time to refer to an inherent inability to accomplish two goals with just one deed. I have a friend who grew up in the countryside. His family owned two acres. There were only 5 members in his family. That was a lot of space for not very many people. Imagine if you took those 2 acres and plunked them down in the middle of London. Lots of Londonites could happily live on that amount of property!
Brett Akker, an entrepreneur, understands that space in London is at a premium. He knows that city populations are becoming denser and homes and apartments are getting smaller. That means there isn’t a lot of space for extra possessions. [More]
