by John Stevens June 1, 2010 9:34 PM
In September of 2008, Hewlett-Packard (HP) took over information technology (IT) provider Electronic Data Systems, and then proceeded to cut 24,600 jobs. Today HP announced that it will be cutting about 9,000 more. Lately, technology firms in Silicon Valley have starting recruiting more aggressively again. UNITS Mobile Storage, of Atlanta, Georgia, has announced that it is donating several portable storage units to help with the construction of the Midtown Green House, the green home that is being built to model green building technology at the 2010 Southern Building Show and Conference. The Southern Building Show will be held May 13 to 15, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

The Southern Building Conference, which is meeting for the 17th year in a row, provides an opportunity for Southern builders, remodelers, architects, designers, and building tradespeople to meet, network, continue their education, and learn about new technologies and building products that are becoming available. The show will include education sessions on green building, and the Midtown Green House is being built as a model. The house is a project of Earthcraft House, the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association's environmentally-friendly building program. Progress in the house's construction can be viewed online at the Midtown Green House website. [More]
