A couple hundred years ago when people started to travel out west they did so in numbers for no other reason than it was safer in case they were attacked. Fast forward to modern times and there still is safety in numbers except now the attackers are not wielding bows and arrows. It is not easy to get a law repealed or altered in the United States. In fact, it could be called an absolute pain in the behind trying to get a law updated. In a way that is good. If it was too easy to change laws we would likely be doing it all the time making it impossible to know what is up and what is down. California Self Storage Operators Roll Up Their Sleeves Again to Fight New Legislation

There’s a renewed battle brewing between the newspaper industry and the self storage industry in California. Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed Assembly Bill 655 into law in 2010 which after three years of fighting between the two opposing industries, resulted in a more cost-effective lien sale process and lien-sale notification procedure. But the California Newspaper Publishers Association (CNPA) has backed the recent Senate Bill 279 which would require self storage operators to announce lien sales in newspapers within elusive and smaller judicial districts rather than in newspapers that circulate in the county where the sale is to be held.
