When the economy is down there are certain things that are pretty rough like selling high-end luxury cars that get poor gas mileage (but look really cool), getting approved for a small business loan, and figuring out what to invest your money in. During the recent economic downturn there was one industry that surprised many with its resiliency and ability to turn a profit. [More]

by John Stevens June 17, 2013 10:36 PM
People have a variety of reason that causes them to feel the need to rent a self storage unit. It may be because they are downsizing, starting an at-home business, de-cluttering the home, and a whole host of other things. However, the same thing is true about each and every reason—they just need a little extra space. [More]

The self storage industry is one that has a firm hold in the United States, is growing in several other countries such as Canada, England, and Australia. Self Storage facilities are doing better and better in other countries where the industry is not too common; well enough to establish a firm foothold and give reason to believe that growth is in the near future. Free Assistance for Tennessee Flood Victims

by Winnie Hsiu May 5, 2010 2:21 PM

Now that the waters are starting to recede, flood victims are salvaging whatever they can. But they need a place to put the things they salvage now that their homes have been destroyed -- or at least rendered unliveable.

In response, self storage facilities all over the state of Tennessee are offering a month of free storage to flood victims. Most self storage facilities also offer free storage to tornado victims whenever there is a need. Some companies, such as Extra Space, always offer a month of free storage to first time renters. Texas Marina Forced to Move Boat Storage Facility

by Tony Gonzalez April 19, 2010 2:32 PM
A marina in Freeport, Texas, will have to move part of its drystack boat storage facility, because the storage building sticks out onto land that has been earmarked for use by the state highway department. The boat storage building encroaches 22 feet onto land that will be used to construct the new Pine Street bridge. Freeport will have to spend $347,510 to move the offending section of the building.

Although the move will be expensive, members of the Freeport Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) were pleased with the estimate, saying that it would cost about $100,000 less than they expected. Despite their pleasure at the lower estimate, FEDC members are still not certain how they will pay for the relocation. [More]
