It’s totally amazing all of the activities in the self storage industry. All of these happenings indicate that the industry is strong, vibrant, and growing. Here are three news items across the United States that are examples of what is going on.

First, a Charolotte-based self storage company bought a storage facility in Virginia-Highland. (Virginia-Highland is a neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia, that was named after the intersection of two streets Virginia Avenue and North Highland Avenue. That is the heart of a busy commercial center of the neighborhood.) The facility was purchased for $6.1 million dollars. [More]

A recent article in the Washington Post indicated several signs that the economy in the United States is still slowly recovering. Because home foreclosures have dropped, the housing market is moving and sales are up. Loans have been repaid. Personal finances have improved. People are more willing to eat out, shop, or go on a vacation. Businesses are expanding. And Storage Post self storage is part of the upward swing in the economy. [More]

Springtime is a time of new growth in the natural world. Trees and shrubs are starting to leaf out. Tulips and daffodils are blooming. Many animals give birth to their young. It’s a time of coming out of hibernation and the doldrums of winter. The world of self storage seems to be coming out of hibernation, too. Happy Birthday Weston Stor-All

Milestone birthdays are significant achievements – the big four-0, five-0 and the birthday when you can quit working and retire. Milestone dates are important in business, too. Stor-All in Weston, Florida has achieved one of those milestones. It is celebrating its ten-year anniversary this month.

The two-acre property is located at 2707 Executive Park Lane in Weston. It is three stories high, contains 59,000 square feet of self storage space and has 530 climate-controlled rental units. [More]

The Storage Neighbor Adds to Its Portfolio

NitNeil Partners announced that it purchased the .86 acre piece of property that was formerly the A.C. White building on Edgewood Avenue in Atlanta's Inman Park neighborhood. NitNeil Partners and Cartel Properties plan to co-develop it and create a new self storage facility that will operate under The Storage Neighbor brand. [More]

bSome days in the news, the self storage industry is quiet. Not much happens. Other days, it’s a flurry of activities. Today, it’s a flurry.

Changes are coming to the small town of Busti, New York. Busti is on the south end of Chautauqua Lake. It has a population of 7,000. Their town board held a public hearing on the Joe Casel’s proposal to add self storage units to his business. He owns Casel Auto Wrecking and seeks a special-use permit. He wants to transform his salvage yard into a self storage facility. He already has one facility that has 25 units. He seeks to build two more buildings. [More]
