Almost everybody knows someone who has had a knee replacement. That person is probably pretty grateful because they no longer suffer from severe pain when they walk. They are also glad to return to their normal activities. However, how many people do you think there are in the world who have had both knees replaced who plan on summiting the highest mountain in the world? Not too many, I dare say. In fact, you could probably count them all on one finger.
