Remember the zany comedienne Phyllis Diller? Long skinny nose and rather homely? Homely that is until she underwent 15 facelifts and different procedures to change her looks.
At the time, actors and actresses were very hush hush about having a face lift. But not Phyllis. Many of the jokes in her comedy routine focused first around her looks and then her plastic surgeries. She was even known for going to parties with stitches in her face and a pair of glasses taped to her forehead so they wouldn’t put weight on her fragile new nose. [More]

A recent article in the Washington Post indicated several signs that the economy in the United States is still slowly recovering. Because home foreclosures have dropped, the housing market is moving and sales are up. Loans have been repaid. Personal finances have improved. People are more willing to eat out, shop, or go on a vacation. Businesses are expanding. And Storage Post self storage is part of the upward swing in the economy. [More]

Liedkie Moving and Storage announced that it will be expanding and building a new storage facility in Guilderland, New York, which is in the central-northwest part of Albany County. Liedkie already has a facility in the nearby areas of Burnt Hills and Rotterdam. [More]

Throughout the years, there have been many very close elections. For example, in 1876, Rutherford B. Hayes won the electoral vote for president of the United States over Samuel J. Tilden by one vote. In 1796, John Adams won by a mere 3 electoral votes.
Similar to these close races, StorageMart recently held a contest that was extremely close. The winner led by the narrow margin of just 2 votes. Ms. Gutman of Public School 172 in Brooklyn, New York, was voted the grand prize winner of StorageMart’s contest “Draw My Favorite Teacher.” [More]

In President Lyndon Johnson's State of the Union address in 1964, he declared an unconditional war on America's poverty. He challenged citizens to step up and do what they could to help out. A group of concerned people in Orange County, New York, decided to act on Johnson's plea and in 1965 they formed the Regional Economic Community Action Program (RECAP).
