A recent article in the Washington Post indicated several signs that the economy in the United States is still slowly recovering. Because home foreclosures have dropped, the housing market is moving and sales are up. Loans have been repaid. Personal finances have improved. People are more willing to eat out, shop, or go on a vacation. Businesses are expanding. And Storage Post self storage is part of the upward swing in the economy.

The saying ‘steady as she goes’ is a nautical phrase that refers to the helmsman keeping a ship firmly pointed in the intended course or direction. Steady as she goes could also refer to the progress that Zippy Shell Mobile Self Storage and Moving is making as a relatively new franchise in the United States.
Zippy Shell is pleased to announce the opening of another new franchise: Zippy Shell South Bay in California. They recently opened a franchise in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, in October.

The board of directors of the Texas Self Storage Association recently elected new executive officers for the upcoming year. The members of the Executive Committee are: President Mark Skeans with Mission Road Mini-Storage in San Antonio; Vice President Mike Gately with Daughtry Properties in San Antonio; Treasurer Amy Nolan of The Storage Place in Corpus Christi; Secretary Paul Glover of Storage Choice in Dallas; and, Immediate Past President Tom McCloskey of MC Storage in Lytle.

Storage Pros Management LLC was founded in 2007. Over the past five years, the company has grown significantly. A natural consequence of that growth has brought changes in personnel positions and responsibilities. The company recently announced several significant changes in their leadership positions.
Storage Pros has promoted John D. Price III to the position of Executive Vice President. Previously he was the Senior Vice President. He retains his responsibilities as the Chief Financial Officer for the company.

The U.S. Senate passed legislation yesterday designed to make it easier for small businesses to create new jobs. The bill is called the Small Business Jobs Act. It was passed in the Senate by a vote of 61 to 38 and is expected to be passed by the House of Representatives, and signed by President Obama, next week as well.
According to the national Self Storage Association, about 90 percent of self storage companies are owned by individual entrepreneurs who each operate just one self storage facility. In the United States today, there are around 27,650 self storage owner/operators who own and operate one facility each. Will the Small Business Jobs Act help these self storage business owners?

Windhoek, Namibia (in southwest Africa, north and west of South Africa), has become the first town in the country to offer cold storage, a capability which is critical to commercial shipping of refrigerated, perishable foods in a hot desert country, and to the food industry. The new facility, Prosperita Commercial Cold Storage, will open early in November. Prosperita can hold 4500 tons of frozen food, and its temperature and hygiene levels conform to European Union guidelines for cold storage.
