Memorial Day is an American holiday where people get an extra day off from work to spend time with friends and family and give thanks to the men and women of the Armed Forces that make it possible for them to do just that. Coaches, bosses, supervisors, and all sorts of authority figures like to use a short, easy to remember phrase to ‘encourage’ their underlings to strive for success—keep it simple stupid. While it may not be the nicest way to go about motivating others there is something to be said for the basic message.

With the weather starting to become nicer across the country the desire to take a nice bike ride around the neighborhood or at the park can be a strong one. It is also the perfect time for people to move; the weather is no longer cold, but it isn’t too hot to make moving unbearable. The correlation between self storage and cycling doesn’t end there.

Exercise, eat right, brush your teeth, get regular checkups, and rent a self storage space— not exactly things that you would expect to see together, but each member of the list is related to a central idea. It may sound hard to believe, but they all have something to do with improving your health.

There are some businesses that need to advertise far and wide if they are hoping to be a success. Then there are others—like the self storage industry—that relies on serving those within reasonable driving distance in order to get their bottom line met.

Guys always think that it’s the hard bodies that women want (that’s why they are single!), but if they just listen to women (yes, that can be hard) they’ll realize that is not the case for many. In fact, most will say that they just want a man that will make them laugh. They want a guy with a good sense of humor, and it looks like this is a lesson that many self storage companies fully embrace.

If there is one thing that every consumer likes to see whether the product is a self storage unit or something else it is the word ‘discount.’ People do not like to pay full price. They want it lower, and will often predicate their entire shopping decision on that one concept barring a drastic difference in quality— the cheaper option.

When we are kids we love our birthdays. It’s a great excuse for our parents to pamper us, we can get away with anything, the day is all about us, not to mention the cake and presents! Our opinions sometimes change when we get older, but when it comes to ‘birthdays’ in the self storage industry the older the birthday the bigger reason to celebrate.

When a business has monotony in its market there is no competition and they can pretty much dictate what happens, what the prices are, and how much supply there is to meet the demand. So of course when there is some competition it bodes well for the consumer.

Compartmentalizing jobs has its place. Some tasks can be so large that it is better to break the larger task down into smaller ones and to have people responsible for only their small piece. However, at the same time there is something to be said for letting someone take on whatever they feel like they can handle—you never know how much they can accomplish.
