Kids Are Not the Only Ones That Like a Good Story—the Self Storage Industry Does!

by John Stevens June 13, 2014 11:49 PM
Reading is something that is essential to getting by in today’s world. Yes, you could guess a few things by the shape of the sign (i.e. a stop sign), but for the most part you are in trouble if you can’t read. Besides—it can be fun as well. Parents read to their kids all the time not only for developmental purposes, but because kids like listening to the story. [More]

Bicycle to Work -- It's Good For You!

by Kim Kilpatrick June 13, 2014 4:49 PM
Many businesses sponsor health and wellness activities for their employees to participate in. The purpose is to encourage employees to adopt a healthy life style. Employees benefit by being healthier. Employers benefit because (hopefully) employees do not miss as much work due to illness. They both benefit by spending less money on medical bills. [More]

Dare to be different! We’ve all heard the phrase before. Sometimes we’ve listened to it when we should have and sometimes when we should not have. Whether on a personal level or a business one—like for members of the self storage industry--the trick is in figuring out when to do it. [More]

SpareFoot Creates Storage Industry Disaster Relief Fund

by Winnie Hsiu April 30, 2014 8:47 PM
Sunday, a rash of tornadoes hit the Midwest and the South. Monday, a fresh flurry of deadly twisters raged though the same region. The extreme weather system also brought severe thunderstorms, hail, and flash floods.

Homes were ripped from their foundations. Vehicles were tossed about like toy Matchbook cars. Residents of Little Rock re-lived a nearly identical experience from the twister in April of 2011 that took almost the exact same route. [More]

Bigger dreams might include a new car or a trip to a tropical island. What would it be like, though, to receive $10 million dollars? It Helps to Be Creative in the Self Storage Industry

Do you ever wonder why it is kind of hard to find Waldo? He is wearing that ridiculous hat and sweater after all. You’d think he would be easy to find. While the outfit is unique there is one important factor that is not—he is just another person in the picture. In a business like the self storage industry it can be easy to fall in to the same kind of rut, but with the right creativity a facility can really stand out. [More]

"Clear that Clutter" Sweepstake Sponsored by SpareFoot

by Holly Robinson November 21, 2013 4:27 PM
Years ago, my aunt read a book called Clutter’s Last Stand by Don Aslett. She loved that book because it helped her figure out ways to de-junk and de-clutter her home. SpareFoot in Austin, Texas, is providing impetus (like the book did for my aunt) to help people ‘clear that clutter’ from their home.

SpareFoot is sponsoring a ‘Clear that Clutter’ sweepstakes to help consumers win the war against their stuff that is stuffed all over their home and garage. People can enter the sweepstakes from now until December 15. The winner of the sweepstakes will get up to six months’ worth of storage from SpareFoot in the form of a $500 Visa gift card. [More]

SpareFoot Identifies the Tidiest Towns in America

by Winnie Hsiu September 18, 2013 10:06 PM
When I was growing up, my parents encouraged us to invite our friends over. So our home was always teeming with kids. One time, one of my brother’s friends asked if we had a maid. (We didn’t.) “But your house is always so clean,” he commented. Our house was clean because my mother taught us how to clean and then she made sure we did our share of work keeping it clean. (I guess you could say that we were the ‘maids.’)

Because families are different from each other, it only goes to say that some are tidier than others. This concept got SpareFoot thinking. They wanted to know which cities in America were the neatest and the most organized. [More]
