How many times when you were growing up did you get a present that was supposed to be kid-friendly and age appropriate, but you had a hard time figuring out how to use it? Parents, how often have you bought a toy for your child (again, age appropriate) only to find that you had a hard time comprehending the instructions yourself?

With the internet accessible nearly all over the world more and more business is being done via the World Wide Web every day. For a company to thrive—or even survive—an online presence is a must.

Back in February in 2012 when Brian Bremer, Director of Operations, announced that USstoragesearch.com would expand their hours of operations to be open 24/7, he stated that people searching for self storage weren’t shopping around just during the hours of 9-5. His call center saw significant web and phone traffic at all hours of the days. So, having his call center open 24/7 made sense and the extended hours would better serve those looking for storage units and those owning and operating them.
Since extending the hours, the results of around-the-clock service have exceeded US Storage Search’s expectations – and also their client’s expectations.

I want to share a little story with you - and I'll show you how it applies to the self storage industry.
I have a friend who owns a vast library of books that she lends to friends and family members. Over three years ago, she lent a book to one of her nieces. A few days ago, the niece finally returned the book.

USstoragesearch.com is one such company that monitored its growth expectations – and surpassed those high expectations.

As of January 1, 2008, there were approximately 12 million people in the United States afflicted with cancer (5.5 million men and 6.5 million women). Research into ways to treat it and hopefully (eventually) cure it one day is ongoing; the problem is that it takes a lot of money to conduct it. Luckily, there are many organizations—like a number of companies in the self storage industry—that have made it a practice to help raise funds to benefit cancer research.

With the way that modern technology advances there is no telling what the future holds for the world. Pretty soon we could all end up flying around like The Jetsons or maybe even have no need to ever get out of our recliners again like in Wall-E. For now though, we’ll just have to be satisfied with it making some of life’s little challenges a bit easier.

Most sports fans will be familiar with the phrase ‘If you build it, he will come!’ from the 1989 movie Field of Dreams starring Kevin Costner, Ray Liotta, and James Earl Jones. While most people in a customer driven business like the self storage industry wishes that was all there is to it when it comes to being a success, it is not. You can build it, but if they don’t know that you have they will not come.
