Self Storage Companies Support Toys for Tots

Families who make a habit of cleaning out closets and basements to prepare for the holidays can kill two birds with one stone this year: putting seasonal items into storage and donating to Toys for Tots. Many self storage companies and associations nationwide are participating in the Toys for Tots program. Self storage facilities are collecting and storing toys, and, as the holidays approach, will serve as distribution points for the campaign as well.

The Toys for Tots campaign is coordinated by the U.S. Marine Corps in conjunction with local business and community leaders. Toys for Tots collects new, unwrapped toys during the holiday season, distributing the toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community.  After the toys are collected, community members sort them according to the intended age and gender of recipients. Then they work with local social service agencies, churches, and community groups to identify children who are in need. Since its inception, the Toys for Tots campaign has distributed toys to more than 188 million children.
