Mini-Storage Messenger is offering a free monthly webinar series for self-storage managers who are interested in learning more about marketing and management. In December and January, the webinars will focus on marketing in general and on the use of social networking as a marketing tool.

The first seminar, on December 17, will be hosted by Anne Ballard, the president and founder of Universal Management Company. Ballard, a frequent speaker at self-storage industry conferences, is often referred to simply as “The Hat Lady,” so her webinar is titled “The Hat Lady Speaks: Marketing Self-Storage.” Ballard will walk webinar attendees through the marketing process one step at a time. She will focus on how to present each facility’s story, methods for improving facility performance, marketing strategies and instructions, and how to motivate the marketing team.

Ballard has been a leader in the self-storage industry since she founded Universal Management Company more than 15 years ago. Universal specializes in self-storage facility management, marketing, and design. It offers development services, conducts feasibility studies, and provides training to owners and operators of self-storage facilities.

The second seminar will occur on January 20, and is titled “Self-Storage + Social Media: How to Make It Work Without Wasting Time & Money.” This webinar will have two speakers, Rebecca Norse, MiniCo Publishing’s Circulation and Social Media Manager, and Derek Naylor, the president of Storage Marketing Solutions. Morse manages MiniCo’s profiles on social networking sites such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. She will explain how to use such sites as a marketing tool and how to avoid wasting time while exploring them. Naylor will talk about the unique Outsourced Marketing Director program he has implemented for Storage Marketing Solutions, and how he has used this program to increase revenue for his clients by more than $250 million over seven years.

Both seminars will be presented at 1:00 pm ET/12:00 pm CT/11:00 am MT/10:00 am PT.

To register for the webinars, prospective attendees should visit www.ministoragemessenger.com. Both webinars are free, but attendees must sign up in advance.
