Inside Self Storage has begun announcing more of the topics for educational roundtables and seminars at its upcoming 2010 World Expo, to take place in Las Vegas from March 1-3.
On March 1, self-storage industry experts will answer questions from Expo participants during a roundtable discussion at the Paris Hotel & Resort. The roundtable discussion is meant to give more and less experienced industry professionals, such as owners, operators, managers, developers, and investors, the chance to talk intimately with each other one on one. The roundtable will cover nearly 30 topics, including:
- building a website for a self-storage facility
- how to maintain a self-storage facility
- sales and marketing for self-storage shoppers
- tracking a self-storage marketing budget
- managing relationships with customers
- super-sizing a self-storage operation
- creative marketing techniques
- generating computer reports
- automating a self-storage facility using kiosks
- constructing and developing boat and RV storage
The Expo will include, as usual, four education tracks: facility marketing and sales; construction, development, and green initiatives; finance, insurance, and legal issues; and daily facility management. The four education tracks will include a total of 36 seminars. But Inside Self Storage announced Monday that it is adding four bonus seminars to the schedule:
- Stacie Maxwell of Universal Management Co. and Christopher Baird of Automatit Inc. will present "Building a Self-Storage Website and E-Mail Database." Maxwell directs marketing and communications at Universal. Her duties at Universal include Internet and e-mail marketing for the 40+ self-storage facilities in Universal's portfolio. Baird, who manages about 500 websites, is a Google Certified Adwords specialist.
- Georgia Ragsdale, the president and CEO of Best American Financial Services, will present "Assembling a Loan Package That Attracts Dollars and Approvals." Ragsdale has closed millions of dollars in loans in the commercial property and construction sectors. She also has experience brokering for a hard-money lender and acquiring land for development companies. She also coaches sales teams for Fortune 500 companies such as GMAC, Charles Schwab, Bank of America, Daum Commercial Real Estate, and Grubb & Ellis.
- Sean Cargo, of Quikstor Security & Software, will present "Using the Internet to Streamline Your Self-Storage Operation." Cargo is a self-storage consultant and senior account executive at Quikstor. He has 22 years of experience finding unique ways to use technology to support business management.
- Caesar Wright, the president of Mako Steel Inc., will present "The Lowdown on Going Up: Building Multi-Story Self-Storage." Mako Steel is a self-storage design and construction company. Wright has been working in the steel industry for two decades, and is well-respected in the industry for his integrity and sense of humor. Wright also serves on the Inside Self Storage Editorial Advisory Board, contributes regularly to the magazine, and moderates the self-storage online forum, Self-Storage Talk.
Expo participants who have registered for an educational track will receive the four bonus seminars at no extra charge.
