The National Portable Storage Association (NPSA), the trade association for the portable storage industry, has announced its 2010 Spring Seminar agenda. The NPSA's Spring Seminar, an annual event, will be held from April 26-27 at the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront resort in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Chairman Joe Verdi, of A-Verdi Storage Containers, will call the assembly to order on the afternoon of April 26. Talks and roundtable discussions to be held will include:

  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, eco-green trends, and sustainable buildings (speaker to be announced)
  • SIR: Structural Integrity Report; survey reports for container building inspectors, with speaker Marv Johnson, the CEO of International Equipment Inspections, Inc.
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, with speaker David Medeiros, of the Rhode Island State Police
  • A roundtable discussion for operators, moderated by Phil Herndon, of Container Solutions, Inc.
  • A discussion of hands-on container modification (to be held at Mid Atlantic Leasing, along with a yard tour)
The NPSA relies on feedback from its members when it determines the agenda for educational events. "When we put together the agendas for our Spring Seminars, we always look for feedback from our members and from the industry at large," said John Finnessy, the NPSA's Executive Director, in a statement released on March 10. "This year's event reflects a strong industry focus on using containers in environmentally-friendly construction....We expect to learn from our presenters about the opportunities and challenges of using containers for sustainable housing -- and much more."

The seminar will also include a reception at the Cavalier Country Club, sponsored by Textainer Equipment Management on the evening of April 26, and a continental breakfast on the morning of April 27.
