“Roger the Alien” Seeks Brilliant Self Storage Slogans

“Roger the Alien,” a member of Inside Self-Storage’s trademark online forum, Self-Storage Talk, has posted a request for self storage operators all over the country: come up with a brilliant slogan to put on a billboard.

“Through a bit of finagling,” Roger wrote in a May 26 Self-Storage Talk post, “one of my properties has recently come upon a billboard to use for advertising purposes...I humbly turn to you, the folks of SST, for some ideas.”

Slowly, people with an interest in self storage have begun to post ideas. Alex Dixon-Koupal, the Education Coordinator for the Inside Self-Storage World Expo, suggested that Roger look at some of Manhattan Self Storage’s billboards for ideas. Dixon-Koupal shared links to the following Manhattan Self Storage billboards: “Your doll collection freaks people out!” and “Your closet space is shrinking as fast as her right to choose.” Senior Self Storage Talk member Tom Litton suggested a photo of an Elvis impersonator next to the slogan, “There are some things you just don’t throw away!” Chicago Community Manager John Carlisle offered the slogan, “Lots to stash but low on cash? Come see us here...”

“Roger the Alien," who also serves as Roger’s avatar, is a character from the hit FOX animated series, “American Dad.” Coincidentally, last May an episode of “American Dad” featured a self-storage facility. In the episode, titled “Weiner of our Discontent,” Stan yells at Roger, so Roger tells Stan that he will fly back to his home world and tell his people to destroy Earth. Following Roger to Roswell, New Mexico, Stan finds Roger’s spaceship stored in a self storage garage.
