A Chicago-area self storage owner has been named Young Entrepreneur of the Year by suburban Chicago’s business paper, The Business Ledger. The new Young Entrepreneur of the Year is Phil Murphy, who founded Storage by the Box.
Every year, The Business Ledger gives the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award to one Chicago-area business owner under the age of 40. The award is meant to honor young businessmen and businesswomen who show leadership and drive, pushing their companies to expand and become successful.
Murphy owns several self storage facilities in the Chicago area. He first started Storage by the Box last February. Storage by the Box allows customers to use an online portal to ship and retrieve boxes to be stored. Users pack their belongings into a box, taking photos of the belongings and noting the box’s contents, and then go to the Storage by the Box website to schedule a pick-up. The company picks up the boxes and stores them. It also provides boxes, packing materials, and FedEx shipping to customers. The service can be used for personal, business, or records storage, or for other purposes. Storage by the Box will also destroy documents for customers upon request.

The Business Ledger will give the award to Murphy at a reception in Wheaton, Illinois, on September 16. The paper will also publish a profile of him in a special section of its October 18 issue.
