NorthStar Moving announced earlier this month that it provided free moving and free long-term storage to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant its 7000th wish. On August 18, the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted the wish of Claire, a 14-year-old girl with cystic fibrosis, to have her bedroom redone by a famous interior designer. NorthStar provided all of the moving and storage that was necessary to make Claire’s wish come true, free of charge. In the end, HGTV’s Interior Design Star Kim Myles was able to work with NorthStar and Make-A-Wish to give Claire’s bedroom a mermaid design makeover.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to granting wishes for children who have life-threatening medical conditions. The group was founded in 1980, when a group of Arizona police officers granted the wish of a seven-year-old boy who was struggling with leukemia to go for a ride in a police helicopter and to become a police officer (he was sworn in as an honorary officer).
Since then, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has worked to grant children’s wishes in an attempt to bring hope and joy to children who are struggling with severe medical challenges. So far, it has granted wishes to more than 193,000 children around the world. Of those children, more than 6,900 have lived in or near Los Angeles.
NorthStar Moving is the official moving and storage company for the Greater Los Angeles area Make-a-Wish Foundation. NorthStar does any moving that Make-A-Wish needs, free of charge, all year-round, and provides year-round free storage, pick up for donations, and help with Make-A-Wish’s annual “Uncork a Wish” charity event.
“It is such a wonderful opportunity to be part of granting a child’s wish,” NorthStar founder Laura McHolm said in a press statement released on Sept. 1 and published online in Business Wire. “We are pleased that in our own small way we can help Make-A-Wish contribute to Claire’s happiness; it simply makes us feel great about what we do. Talk about moving!”
