Hampshire Self Storage, a Local Business with a Heart

It is fairly common to see businesses getting involved in their respective communities. Doing so not only gives the business a sense of pride in the community, but it also endears the community to the business as well. During the current economic times it is not surprising to see some companies not commit as many resources to community efforts; the economics of business does not allow for it.

That is why it is refreshing to see the involvement that Hampshire Self-Storage has in its community. With the holiday season fast approaching Hampshire Self-Storage is stepping up and getting active in ways that truly benefit the people where they do business.

The state of New Jersey is experiencing a severe blood shortage. Nationwide, about 5 percent of people donate blood on a regular basis; in New Jersey that number is just 3.6. Two years ago the state used 35,000 more units than it collected. While other states have been able to help in the past, many of them are facing issues themselves now.

The Hampshire Self-Storage facility in Montville, New Jersey is teaming up with Morristown Memorial and Overlook Hospitals for a blood drive to help alleviate this problem. To entice people to come donate, the people at Hampshire Self-Storage are offering 15% to new and existing customers for one month.

Of the companies 11 facilities in the New York and New Jersey area, 10 of them will be taking part in the annual toy drive sponsored by the U.S. Marines, Toys for Tots. Through December 12th people can drop by one of the participating facilities and leave a toy for a child in need.

The first Toys for Tots drive was headed up by Major Bill Hendricks in Los Angeles back in 1947 and yielded 5000 toys for children in the local area. Since then, in 62 years the Marine Corps has collected over 400 million toys and distributed them to over 188 million children.

The blood drive will be on November 4. 2010, from 12pm to 4pm at Montville facility located at 5 Changebridge Rd. Montville, NJ 07045. For more information people can call 973-263-8900.
