Self Storage Company Comes to the Aid of Local Residents Again

Most of the world watched the affects that the recent winter weather had on the biggest football game of the year last Sunday. All in all it looked like not very much since the game went off without a hitch (minus the musical performances). While the game did go well, the fans and people in the surrounding area did not have it nearly as easy.

The snow and ice storm that gripped the area did more than its fair share of damage, in many cases leaving people with their homes damaged and their belongings at risk of further damage.  When it came down to it what many of them needed was a dry, enclosed space to store some of their things while they tried to rebuild from the damages of the storm.

That’s where U-Haul Companies of North Texas and Oklahoma come in. They have offered residents affected by the storm the use of a self storage unit free of charge for 30 days while they work on getting their lives back together.

The company has also made the Take a Box, Leave a Box program available to them if they need boxes in order to pack their belongings in. Basically the program encourages people to leave their boxes that are still in good condition for others to use once they are done using them.

"These severe winter storms are expected to bring hazardous weather advisories and conditions that will affect many people throughout the communities we serve," stated Garner Carey, area district vice president (ADVP) for U-Haul operations "I hope this effort will provide assistance to residents that need some help during these extreme weather conditions."

The gesture is not an unusual one for the U-Haul Companies to make. When the Mississippi area was hit with tornadoes in late December/ early January the company made the same offer their allowing residents to have the use of a free month of self storage unit while they recovered from all the damages.

"These tornadoes have caused tremendous damage to the communities we serve," stated Doug Weston, president, U-Haul Company of Mississippi. "I hope this effort will provide assistance to families that truly need a helping hand if their homes or businesses were affected by these tornadoes.  We will continue to help our friends and neighbors during their time of need."

The company was also there for residents when Hurricane Katrina hit making the same offer to residents affected by that storm as well.
