Some of the biggest names in the storage business, including Extra Space Storage, MiniCo, Storitz, and Mini-Storage Messenger, will be converging in Hawaii this summer to take part in PhoneSmart’s “un-conference.” While enjoying the unbelievable sights and sea of Kohala Coast, attendees will be given a unique opportunity to network with some of the top names in the business while attending custom-designed seminars.
The un-conference, scheduled for June 7-11 at the eco-friendly Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows, is asking that those who register submit topics in advance that they would like to see addressed during the seminars. Finance, operations, building, call centers, or secret shopping representatives are among the experts that can be requested for the sessions. Phonesmart sees the focus likely leaning towards improving conversions on websites, using social media, driving more foot traffic into stores, mobile marketing, and increasing add-on sales.
The un-conference is being billed as an event with “unconventional ideas,” “unscripted sessions,” and “unbelieveable learning.” The conference will be less structured with the focus being on gathering information and contacts while offering plenty of time to network in a peaceful, rejuvenating setting. The hotel has been recognized as one of the greatest resorts in the United States and one of the greenest. It produces most of its own electricity during daylight hours with solar panels.
At the last un-conference in 2009, attendees met to discuss topics such as employee development, search engine marketing, financing and managing multi-facility portfolios.

Spots fill up fast and registration is limited to 75 participants. Attendees in 2009 said the intimacy of the event and the ability to get to know everyone personally was valuable.
