Self Storage Companies Support Education

A person would be hard pressed to find anyone that would disagree with the phrase ‘education is key.’ Whether it is at your job, playing a new sport, or in the classroom the more learning opportunities that a person can take advantage of in life the better. However, sometimes people are not able to take care of the opportunities that are available for no other reason than lack of funds.

It used to be that people needed at least a high school diploma; now a bachelor’s degree has become the minimum education requirement for many good paying jobs. As public education gets more and more expensive it has become harder for those less fortunate to get access to the same opportunities as those more affluent.Rather than let kids in their community’s go without the education they need in life some self storage companies have decided to lend a helping hand.

A-1 Self Storage in San Diego has begun supporting the Father Joe’s Villages Scholarship Fund, an organization that promotes academic excellence and gives financial assistance to minority students that want to continue their education beyond high school.

“A-1 Self Storage is proud to support Father Joe’s Village Scholarship Fund and our community by helping raise awareness. Homeless students face extraordinary challenges and obstacles, and we feel that one of the best ways to encourage and support students challenged by adversity is by removing one of the biggest barriers; money” said Brian Caster, President and CEO of A-1 Self Storage. “We believe it is important to support organizations that promote the betterment of students and promote healthy living.”

On the other side of the country in New Jersey, Westy Self Storage is helping the Summit College Club raise money to help out local female students achieve their college education dreams. Westy Self Storage is acting as a drop off point for people wishing to donate to the organization’s annual book sale.

The Summit College Club, which is a branch of the American Association of University Women, then uses the funds from the book sale to make sure that local female students are not denied an education due to money. Books will be collected starting in early January through the end of March with the sale to take place from April 13-17.

The efforts of A-1 Self Storage and Westy Self Storage may not be grand in scale, but if just one person that would have otherwise not gone to college does than the work of both organizations can be considered a success.
