One thing that kids don’t really think too much about is where things come from that they need or use on a daily basis. The vast majority of things of course are provided by Mom and Dad, but what about all the things that the community provides (parks, library, etc) or what if Mom and Dad are not able to do all the things they would like to for their kids?
That is often where different charities join the picture. Many different organizations exist that help provide kids with the tools they need to succeed today and make tomorrow a little bit better. In some cases it means they get food and clothes. At other times it could mean a place to go with something to do after school. Whatever the place or purpose the general idea is to make sure that children get their education and general wellness needs met.
Charity work takes money though. The sad thing is that many such places are limited in what they can do or close down altogether due to financial issues. They typically count on donations and fundraisers in order to stay in operations. That is where events like the 2nd Annual Break’n the Walls of Jericho “Dinner with the Pros” come in handy and the participation of companies like A-1 Self Storage.
Events like this are often held to raise money for area charities and solicit donations from businesses for attendance to the event. The Dinner with the Pros is an opportunity for attendees to have dinner with a pair of professional football players. For the 2011 event held on February 25 it was John Carney of the New Orleans Saints and Mike Scifres of the San Diego Chargers.
A-1 Self Storage was among the ‘first down’ level donors who donated $5,000 to help recipients of the charities break through the walls that hold them back from being successful and leading the kinds of lives they want to live.
“A-1 Self Storage is proud to support Breakin’ the Walls of Jericho and community members who help create transformative and nurturing environments that enrich the lives of children and the community in a holistic manner,” said CEO Brian Caster. “We believe it is important to support organizations that promote the betterment of self and promote healthy living.”
This is not the first time that A-1 Self Storage has given back to the community and tried to help people. Last Christmas the company acted as a donation center for the Toys for Tots drive at more than 40 different locations. Last September they helped support the National Ataxia Foundation’s Fourth Annual ”Walk n’ Roll for Ataxia.” Recently they became supporters of the Father Joe’s Village Scholarship Fund, a scholarship fund for minority kids suffering from financial hardship.
"We believe it is important to support organizations that promote the betterment of students and promote healthy living,” said Brian Caster,
