There are some businesses that are only concerned with their bottom line; with filling their own pockets and making sure that they make as much profit as possible. There are others that take the privilege of having a successful business as an honor and express their gratitude by giving back to the community that makes their very existence possible.
Many companies in the self storage industry have been known to show their appreciation to their communities in many different ways. Every Christmas you can count on many locations around the nation collecting toys, clothes, and food for a number of charities. Most continue to be just as active in charitable endeavors following the holiday season as well.
One such company is A-1 Self Storage, a company with about 40 locations in and around the San Diego area. Recently it was announced that they would be supporting another charity foundation, Jackalope Inc.
Jackalope Inc. is an organization that began loosely in 1982 when some friends started to get together for a golf tournament and donated the funds they had left over to local charities. Seven years later they made it official by obtaining 501 (c) (3) status, running semi-annual golf tournaments, and donating over $10,000 to local charities that help those who have fallen on hard times.
“A-1 Self Storage is proud to support Jackalope, Inc. and its founders consisting of concerned citizens and business people in the community who are connected by their commitment of providing assistance to disadvantaged individuals and organizations in San Diego County” said Brian Caster, President and CEO of A-1 Self Storage. “We believe it is important to support organizations that promote the betterment of self and promote healthy living.”
This spring’s golf tournament will be held on March 11, 2011, at the Cottonwood Golf Club in El Cajon, CA.
A-1 Self Storage is involved in many charities throughout the year. Most of their facilities act as drop off points for Toys for Tots every Christmas. They supported the 2nd Annual Break’n the Walls of Jericho “Dinner with the Pros” event in late February, an event geared towards raising money for charities that help make the lives of kids less fortunate a little better. They are also supporters of Father Joe’s Village Scholarship Fund which helps give minority children from financially challenged backgrounds the chance to pursue an education beyond high school.
"We believe it is important to support organizations that promote the betterment of students and promote healthy living,” said Brian Caster.
