It would be nice if all it took to succeed in business was to be good at what you do. The reality of the matter is that no matter how good you are at your chosen profession, if no one knows about or sees what you can do than it just does not matter. That is essentially why the self storage industry and other businesses advertise.
Advertising or promoting your self storage company can be done in many ways. Many self storage facilities will offer some sort of deal where the first month is free or just cost one dollar. While that does bring in customers, the facilities that get more unique with how they advertise and promote their business are more likely to fill up their available space a little sooner.
Knowing how to advertise to niche groups can especially go a long way to bringing more tenants to your self storage facility.
Take college students for example. As the spring semester draws to a close there will be many students needing to move out of the dorms for the summer as they take a break from their studies. In some cases it may be convenient to just take everything home, but in many cases it is not. That is where self storage facilities can be of great use.
One company, ezStorage, is preparing to tap into this market with their Second Annual Campaign for College Students Sure to be Success. In it students that rent a storage unit and have a valid college ID will get a free 2GB thumb drive and will also have a chance to enter the Store Your Stuff and Win Sweepstakes. Two winners will receive a free Apple iPad2 and ten others will win a HD Flip Video Camera.
"Last year, our college campaign was such a success we wanted to continue the fun and offer more prizes," said Todd Manganaro, ezStorage president. "Social media is a positive way we can connect with college students, offer discounts and stay in the forefront of our digital world."
Mini U Storage likes to engage in promotions that speak to an even broader niche market, the sports fan. For some time now, they have worked together with local sports teams at their various locations in the nine different states in which they have self storage facilities. Generally, what they do is give new tenants a pair of tickets to an upcoming event for a team that the company is partnered with.
Among the teams that Mini U Storage has partnered with are the Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Redskins, Colorado Rockies, Detroit Pistons, Anaheim Ducks, New York Yankees, Washington Nationals, and many, many more.
