New Jersey Self Storage Pitching in for an Evening with the Stars

Television shows like Dancing with the Stars have made doing things with ‘the stars’ a pretty popular thing these days. Another show had the stars ice skating for a time, you can always catch the stars acting foolish, and there is the ever popular charity function with the stars as well.

A local self storage facility in New Jersey has gotten involved with a charity function geared towards benefiting Senior Services of the Chathams called an ‘Evening with the Stars.’ It is not exactly the kind of evening with ‘the stars’ that you might expect though.

This ‘Evening with the Stars’ fundraiser, which the good people at Westy Self Storage are helping sponsor, is one of the more literal variety—real stars, not the Tom Hanks and Taylor Swift type, but the ones up in the sky.

The fundraiser will have a number of activities which people can enjoy, one of them using a telescope to have at the night sky (weather permitting of course). To stay with the ‘stars’ theme, there will also be a presentation on the Russian Space Program by William Whitehead of Amateur Astronomers, Inc.

People can also enjoy a Zumba demonstration (the popular new fitness craze) by Senior Services instructor, Andrea Pleckaitis. Gift baskets will also be raffled off to help raise money for Senior Services of the Chathams including one from Westy Self Storage that has the use of one of their moving trucks and free storage.

The event will be held Friday, May 13, at 7PM EST.

Events like this are not unusual for Westy Self Storage to get involved in.  The company, which has self storage units spread across Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey, is heavily involved with work within the community.

The weekend of April 13 they are involved with the Summit College Club Book Sale. Each year the club collects donations of books and then holds sales in order to raise money to help local area girls (in New Providence, NJ) pursue higher education. Westy Self Storage donates space for the club to store the books prior to and between sales.

They are often involved in charity drives geared towards helping numerous charities at once. Last holiday season they had what they called the ‘Six for Six’ drive where they acted as the drop-off and collection point for six different charities, Foster and Adoptive Family Services, Dress for Success Morris County, SHIP – Summit Helping Its People, Santa Claus Shop, ReRead, and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots.

“We’re very proud to continue our Six for Six Donation Drive. We have been able to assist so many deserving charities through this program and we look forward to another successful drive,” said Tim Mincin, district director of Westy Self Storage, Chatham. “A very special thank you to all who participate in our program. It would not be nearly as fruitful without the contributions of so many.”
