Colleges are getting ready to wind down for the summer break, which means students across the country will be looking for storage space for all of their much accrued possessions. Some storage facilities are offering snazzy, high-tech promotions to attract students’ interest while other storage companies who aim directly at the college student clientele are designing their own promotions.

Dorm2Dorm caters exclusively to college students who need summer and study abroad storage services. The company will deliver boxes and packing materials to a dorm so the student can pack items into boxes and label larger items like refrigerators, couches, and beds. At a scheduled time, the company will pick up the items from the dorm room, store them in a local storage facility, and then deliver the items to the new dorm or apartment at the beginning of the next semester. The company also offers tertiary services such as gift baskets and maid services. It is also offering a promotion of 20 percent off if a customer gets a friend to sign up.
Collegeboxes, which has been around since 1999, was originally the subject of a class project at Duke University. Collegeboxes.com will pick up, store and deliver not just packaged boxes, but also bikes, TVs, computers, fridges, rugs, luggage, trunks, books, beds, futons and many other items.
