People go in to business for any number of reasons, but for the most part it is all about making money. While that is likely the main reason for anyone, there are a number of people that after they become successful decide to use the means by which their business now allows to do something greater than just turn a profit.
Many different kinds of charities count on the assistance of businesses like their local self storage facilities for assistance in filling a void that has been ignored or simply passed over by society as a whole.
One such case would be the work that A-1 Self Storage supports through the ROCK Ministries.
ROCK stands for Reaching Out to Christ’s Kids. The ministry was formed in 1997 by founder Nannette Gonzalez in order to help children in Romania that have been left homeless. For years there was a law that required women to have at least five children before they turned 45 so that the country could raise a large army and become a world power. However, what the law did not allow for was the fact that many people could not afford to feed so many children.
Although the regime that had instituted the law was ousted from power two decades ago, the country still has a large number of orphaned children. ROCK ministries was formed to help alleviate the issue.
“A-1 Self Storage is proud to support ROCK (Reaching Out to Christ’s Kids) Ministries. A foster care program that is holistic is invaluable” said Brian Caster, President and CEO of A-1 Self Storage. “To not only welcome children into your home but to meet their needs is an act of acceptance and love.”
For self storage companies to support efforts like that is nothing new. Last year when Haiti was ravaged by an earthquake there were a number of self storage facilities that stepped up and provided aid to those miles away.
The good people at Security Self Storage are a great example. In locations that stretched from Florida to Maryland on the East Coast they collected $5 from each self storage unit rented from January 15 to March 15 to be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.
"Many of our customers, particularly in South Florida, have ties to Haiti, and we hope that our contributions will make a difference toward relief and recovery there," says Security's president, Stephen Block.
