There are a number of things that business persons are going to say is the most important thing about running a business. In one way, shape, or form they will all be right to an extent. However, one of the comments that would rank a lot higher than most would have to be: If the potential customers don’t know you are there, they can’t become actual customers.
Seems like a no-brainer, right? After all, that is what your advertising and marketing budget is for, but sometimes it isn’t always enough. How do you entice the people that don’t pay attention to the commercials and just throw away the flyers?
That is where getting involved in the community can be as important as your advertising, if not more so. People don’t always remember commercials, but what they do often remember is who was involved with a charity or a really cool event they attended.
Extra Space Self Storage has taken advantage of this concept by getting involved in different things within the communities that they have facilities in.
An Extra Space Self Storage facility in Sacramento is practicing this concept later this month on May 28th. They will be hosting a car wash to help raise funds for the No Youth Left Behind Foundation of America.
"Extra Space appreciates the opportunity to be involved in local charities. No Youth Left Behind Foundation is diligently working with our youth and we look forward to supporting their fundraising goals," noted Carlann Thierry, District Manager for Extra Space Storage.
The first 100 cars will get free lunch and there will be a bounce house for the kids to enjoy as well. A DJ will be blasting the latest and greatest music and there will be a raffle taking place among a number of safety-related activities for kids and parents.
Now who would not want to store their worldly possessions at a place that puts on such an event for charity?
Another Extra Space Self Storage facility tried a different approach; rather than assist a charity, they have become associated with a memorable event.
On the 30th of last month, the facility in Fort Lauderdale joined with the Playground Gym CrossFit Fort Lauderdale to host the 2011 Fort Lauderdale Strongman Challenge.
"It is always exciting when we have the opportunity to support a community event like this. We take great pride in being an active member of our local community and reinforce that through our partnership with The Playground Gym," Michael Pontillo, Extra Space Storage District Manager.
Even if you are not into attending that kind of event, there are not many that are not at least curious when it comes to seeing really large, muscle bound people perform their incredible feats of strength. How likely are you to remember a self storage company’s name when you see it on the back of a muscle man lifting a VW Bug 25 times?
