Who does not like to spend a nice, relaxing day curled up with a good book and wearing nothing but your pajamas? It doesn’t matter how old you are. There is just something that is comforting about pajamas. Books give us a chance to exercise our brains while we escape into another world inside its pages.
Sadly, there are a lot of kids out there that do not get to enjoy the comfort that a pair if nice, warm pajamas brings. For any number of reasons, they are in situations at home that are unhealthy and often have to be taken out of them. Too often when this happens they are left with nothing but what they were wearing when child protective services or the police take them away.
There are programs out there that work to make the lives of kids that have to be removed from their homes a little better. One such program, the Pajama Program Donation Drive, recently had the support of a self storage company thrown behind.
Westy Self Storage has announced their support of the Pajama Program with the Pajama Program Donation Drive. The goal is to collect provide kids removed from their homes with a new set of pajamas and a book in an effort to provide them with a little comfort in what is otherwise a very tough and trying time.
“When you see how much a pair of new, clean pajamas and a book for bedtime means to children who have so little, you realize how much comfort this simple gift gives them,” said Genevieve Piturro, Executive Director and Founder of Pajama Program. “We are grateful to Westy Self Storage for their support and enthusiasm!”
Since the program began back in 2001, over a million sets of pajamas and books have been handed out to children in need. Currently there are 79 chapters of the Pajama Program operating in 42 states.
Efforts are being stepped up now before the weather takes a turn for the worse and gets cold. The Westy Self Storage facility in Stamford, CT, will be acting as a drop off point for the Drive through August 15.
“It is with great pride that we host a donation drive to assist the Pajama Program,” said Tim Mincin, District Director of Westy Self Storage, Stamford location. “No child should go without these basic necessities, especially during such a difficult time in their lives.”
The spirit of giving is nothing new when it comes to the people at Westy Self Storage. Recently
