Anyone that has ever seen the Blues Brothers (the original movie with Dan Akroyd and John Belushi; not the remake with John Goodman) will remember the lyrics, “Everybody/ Needs some body/...” to the song ‘Everybody Needs Somebody to Love.’ No song could better describe the human condition.
As much as some may like to deny it, we all need someone at some time in our lives. Sometimes it’s for friendship; other times love. Sometimes it is because we are having trouble providing for ourselves and our families.
Luckily, there are plenty of people in the world that like to help others that are in need. However, sometimes those that want to help have a hard time doing so. One self storage company is trying to make certain that people in their community will have the help they need.
Recently, A-1 Self Storage in San Diego announced their support of San Diego Hospice. Hospice care is for families undergoing the difficult task of dealing with someone that has a life-limiting illness. Care workers will help the family provide the proper and necessary care for their loved one either in the person’s home or in a facility.
"Caring, helpful and encouraging support during a difficult season is a tremendous gift.” said Brian Caster, President and CEO of A-1 Self Storage. "At San Diego Hospice that is what you get - friends who walk with you and your loved one during the most challenging of times. Here at A-1, we gladly support San Diego Hospice.”
Along with the aid they are giving the workers of San Diego Hospice, A-1 Self Storage is trying to help people interested in volunteering their time for others by giving to the Ignation Volunteer Corps San Diego Region.
Ignation Volunteer Corps (IVC) is a non-for-profit organization that has facilities in many different cities around the nation that specializes in placing individuals that want to volunteer with organizations that could best use the talents that each particular volunteer has. The IVC itself is run by an all-volunteer staff, men and women 50 years of age and over that commit to working two days a week for a 10 month period.
“Experience, sage wisdom, and a mentor make a difference in the non-profit world.” said Brian Caster, President and CEO of A-1 Self Storage. “A-1 Self Storage is a proud sponsor of the IVC.”
