There are always people that are in need of assistance in the world. However, in poor economic times like many places are going through these days, there are even more people than normal that find themselves in need of help. The self storage industry is doing what it can to make sure as many people as possible get the help they need.
Since late June, a number of self storage facilities, the 24 facilities run by Storage Asset Management Inc., have been encouraging tenants and members of the community to donate various clothing items as part of their “Spread Goodwill” charity drive with all items going to benefit Goodwill Industries.
“We are so grateful to our property managers for their work in promoting this drive to their current customers and local communities, “said Julie Purcell, director of marketing for Storage Asset Management (SAM).”Everyone was so generous and we are truly blessed.”
Through their efforts, the facilities SAM manages collected over 8,000 items for Goodwill.
In Texas, one of the most successful self storage companies in the Houston area, Amazing Spaces (with self storage facilities in the Woodlands, Spring and Houston area), recently kick started one of their annual charity drives.
Every year the members of the Texas Self Storage Association of which Amazing Spaces is a part of, engage in a charity drive to benefit the Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston. As a whole, the members of the TSSA have nearly donated a quarter of a million dollars over the past eight years. Amazing Spaces is determined to do what it can to help the drive break that barrier.
“This year we are really trying very hard to reach our goal to raise more money for the hospital, it is a wonderful charity to support,” said Kathy Tautenhahn, Vice President.
Amazing Spaces has stated that the company will help those efforts along by pledging to match the sum that is collected with an equal donation from the company.
A-1 Self Storage has made corporate responsibility as much of a priority as providing quality service to tenants. They have made a number of donations to worthy causes in areas where they do business. Among the places they have donated to recently are: the United Cerebral Palsy Association of San Diego, San Miguel Cristo Rey High School, and San Diego’s Thousand Smiles Foundation all within the last couple weeks.
