There have been thousands of great business ideas, self storage or otherwise, that have failed over the years for one reason alone—people didn’t know that much about them. In some respects it might have been too hard to get the word out on a business in time for it to be successful. Thanks to modern technology, that has all changed.
Many self storage companies have taken to the internet in order to make sure that potential customers had all the information they could want about their particular self storage facility. One would be hard pressed to find a facility without a website these days; many will have Facebook pages as well.
Websites will often tell viewers all the general information they might want to know about the facility. While a lot of this information is often found on Facebook as well, many will use Facebook to ensure that information is readily available about any sales or promotions they are running.
SmartStop Self Storage recently used theirs to announce their “Sing it Smart” promotion where they are asking people to make up a 30-second jingle singing the praises of SmartStop Self Storage. The only stipulation is that their tagline, “The smarter way to store!” be included.
"One day in a meeting we were kicking around ideas about how we could sing the praises of SmartStop Self Storage," said H. Michael Schwartz, CEO SSTI, the parent company of SmartStop Self Storage, "when suddenly we realized that, hey, there are some really talented and creative people out there -- including our customers -- who have the smarts and technology to do it. Let's ask them to 'Sing It Smart' and tell us what's special about SmartStop Self Storage!"
StorageTreasures.com has made its living by disseminating information to those interested about auctions being held at self storage facilities in their area. They recently announced that the forum for the site had been upgraded to insure that the site was offering as much information as possible about self storage auctions.
“As soon we launched the forum the first wave of posts gave us a really clear idea of what our members wanted to know before jumping in to the auction world.” StorageTreasures President and Founder Lance Watkins said.
The forum will now include content areas the site is calling ‘unit of fame’ and ‘picker’s corner’ as well as ones for Storage Wars stars Dave Hester and Dan Dotson to interact with fans and on every auction related reality show on television.
