At the Metropolitan Dream Center's Annual Musical, hosted by the St. Mark A. M.E. Zion Church, Access Self Storage was honored for its support to the Center and for its commitment to helping the homeless community. Access Self Storage, based in Dallas, Texas, donated advertising for the Center's annual Harvest Fest. For five years, the business has also donated space to the Center to store clothing, food, and supplies.
"It's always what we want to do, help people in need in our communities," says Access owner Doug Hunt. His company's ongoing commitment to helping others has already garnered recognition and numerous awards from organizations across the city. "We really love how hard the ladies at the Dream Center work at a job that never ends and is often without thanks."
Access Self Storage has sponsored other charitable activities such as a Boot Scootin' Benefit, a community Christmas party, an Easter egg hunt, the Reindeer Manor Characters and Costume Contest, and an anniversary and customer appreciation event.
The Dream Center is a faith-based non-profit organization that serves the city's homeless population. They hold charitable events to raise monies and supplies to help feed, clothe, and provide social services to the homeless and less-fortunate families in the city. The Center assists an average of 150 homeless people each month.
Margaret James is the Center's director. James directed the House of Hope for sixteen years before establishing the Dream Center. During that time, she envisioned developing that organization into one that was stronger, more vibrant - one that did more and reached out to more people. The faith-based Dream Center is the result of her efforts.
The Dream Center created a coalition of pastors and churches. It is not bound to just one faith or church. Instead, their efforts are interdenominational as they provide for the needs of the city's indigent.
The Center is lead by a Board of Directors that identifies needs and directs the efforts of the Center. It has a Volunteer Corp that donates their time and energy to accomplishing the tasks of the Center. In addition to their charitable events, the Center accepts donations of non-perishable food, coats, blankets, clothing, toiletries, and monetary gifts.
