There is a time honored tradition for parents and kids all over the world this time of year. The little ones make out there Christmas Wish List—some of which they give to Santa—and the rest Mom and Dad use when they go Christmas shopping. As valued as that tradition is in the broad scheme of the holiday, there is one that both parties involved enjoy probably even more.
By that, I’m talking about the time honored task that Mom and Dad must do in hiding the presents they buy so that they can be a surprise to the children on Christmas Day. At the same time, it is prerogative—nay, the duty—of children everywhere to try and find where Mom and Dad hid the presents.
Now if the world had of Santa’s elves at its disposal, hiding them would be a piece of cake. After all, those little guys and jolly ole’ Saint Nick have managed to keep the entire Christmas village at the North Pole hidden, right? Hiding a handful of presents shouldn’t be a problem!
Non-believers are probably wondering where they can find their own elf to help them hide Christmas presents from the kids. What they don’t realize is that there is a very good chance that the elves might be hiding in plain sight at the local self (s-elf) storage facility (we can’t say definitively that they are; it’s supposed to be a secret after all).
If you really want to make sure that the kids don’t find out what you got them for Christmas prior to X-mas morning, why not rent a small self storage unit for a month (or longer depending on how early you start shopping)?
It is not unusual for some self storage companies to try and help Moms and Dads out like this. It is not unusual to see the ‘s’ in ‘self storage’ suddenly burn out in many self storage facilities this month. One company this year has gone as far as to change its name to Armour Elf Storage (rather than self).
If you think about it, this is the one sure fire way to make sure that the kids never find out what they are getting till you want them to find out. Units that are roughly the size of your average closet can be rented, and some companies like Armour Self Storage will allow one month rentals in December to help parents out.
The self storage industry exists in order to help people solve their need for more space. Since it can be hard to find a space at home that the kids can’t get to, why not take advantage of the (s)elf storage facility nearest you this Christmas to insure that look of surprise is a genuine one?
