With the way that modern technology advances there is no telling what the future holds for the world. Pretty soon we could all end up flying around like The Jetsons or maybe even have no need to ever get out of our recliners again like in Wall-E. For now though, we’ll just have to be satisfied with it making some of life’s little challenges a bit easier.
Whether it was Al Gore or someone else altogether that discovered the internet, the fact of the matter is that the World Wide Web has made many of life’s tasks, both little and big, much, much easier. For example, take the challenge of trying to find the right self storage facility. Prior to the internet one would be forced to either make a lot of phone calls or drive around for a day if you wanted to comparison shop.
Thanks to the web that is not the case anymore. Many places now have websites that make it much easier to shop around. The only problem is that you still have to find out which ones are actually in your area. Without the right search terms finding a self storage facility in your desired location can still be a little maddening.
As could be expected, whenever a need presents itself there is likely to be a few entrepreneurs that will be more than happy to satisfy it. In the case of the self storage industry that has resulted in a number of aggregators popping up on the internet.
Aggregators are sites that make it easy for people to find self storage facilities for a given area. When you go to one of these sites you can enter in whatever you would like to use as your search parameters—general location, amenities, etc.—and a selection of qualifying self storage facilities will pop up.
The best sites will also make it easy for you to compare self storage facilities, request a quote, and even make your reservation online. Of course, the downfall to these sites is that they will only search through self storage facilities that are members.
The first few sites that popped up where national or regional ones, but lately there have been some city-specific ones that have been created. Recently, the city of Arlington, Texas, home to roughly 365,000 people (but happens to be very close to the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, home of close to 6.4 million people), became the latest city to have their own aggregator site created, ArlingtonSelfStorage.com.
A site dedicated to helping people find self storage facilities in San Diego already exists (One by One Storage). USStorageSearch.com currently covers about 97 percent of the United States.
