It doesn’t take much for the average person to see that the self storage industry is doing well. Pick any major city in the country and there are bound to be dozens of very nice self storage facilities that were not there a decade ago. Ever wonder why that might be happening?
One self storage company decided they’d try and find out.
StorageMart, a self storage company with 130 facilities in the U.S. and Canada, asked a pair of questions as part of their ScholarSmarts scholarship program:
• “What link is there between a clutter-free workspace and increased productivity?”
• “How has self storage improved your lifestyle?”
The program is something that StorageMart does twice a year, prior to the spring and fall college semesters. Any student that is enrolled at some form of institute of higher learning (college, university, apprenticeship, etc.) is eligible for the program, but the idea is to give non-traditional students who normally do not have many avenues when it comes to financial aid an option.
StorageMart has been kind enough to post the wining answers to these burning questions so that the public at large become better educated on the benefits of self storage.
What makes the program even more enticing for students is that the money is handed straight to them to use in any school-related expenses, i.e. child care, rent, etc. Five students were recently named winners and were handed a check for $1000.
Scholarships like this are just one of the many ways that StorageMart tries to give back to the community. Recently they finished the second installment of their video series about what can fit in a self storage unit; this time it was bubble bath in honor of National Bubble Bath Day (January 8). The contents were all donated to the Hope House, a women’s shelter in Kansas City.
On February 2 StorageMart will be announcing the winners of a pair of tickets to see the Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs play at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on February 6. Their logic behind holding the giveaway could not be any simpler than it is.
“Basically we look for any excuse to give something away that we know our customers will enjoy," Sarah Little, Interactive Marketing Director at StorageMart said.
In regards to the two questions mentioned earlier, neither of the aforementioned scenarios will help with workplace productivity, but it is safe to say that lots of bubble baths and free tickets to a hockey game can improve someone’s lifestyle!
