There are a million and one sayings that have to do with the beauty of someone or something. People love to talk about how beauty is only skin deep and that it’s in the eye of the beholder, but the fact remains that we all know that looking good matters—especially in businesses like the self storage industry.
One way in which beauty matters to the self storage industry is the ever-growing importance of the internet. These days having a presence on the World Wide Web is vital to success. People don’t look to the yellow pages every time they need something; they pull out their smart phones and search the web.
When it comes to the web, the sites that people stay on longer will have two basic things in common; they will be visually appealing and easy to navigate. That is what Storage Post Self Storage had in mind when they recently had their website redesigned as part of refocusing the company’s branding and identity.
"Our main goal was to create an efficient, interesting and functional website that helps visitors select and reserve the unit that best fits their needs and creates brand recognition in the self storage industry," said Jackson Wilson, Storage Post's chief information officer. "Recognizable and reliable features provide visitors with a smoother browsing experience, which lead to a more confident customer."
To further improve their web presence Storage Post has redesigned their mobile site so that it will look like the desk top version, and be just as easy to navigate.
Of course when it comes to the self storage industry, aesthetic beauty has always been vital to success. Too often the industry has been painted as a blight to the appearance of the community which is why many now go to great lengths to make sure that the facility is a sight to behold inside and out.
Some, like the Extra Space Storage facility in Estero, Florida, have even been recognized for how well they maintain the appearance of their facility. The Estero facility was recognized last April when it was awarded the David Graham Award for Excellence in Development.
"We are honored to receive the David Graham Award for Excellence in Development," said Gloria Barnett Regenold, Store Manager for Extra Space Storage of Estero. "This award validates the efforts we made to ensure that our facility shared the look and feel of Estero."
