Getting Personal in the Self Storage Industry Important

by Kim Kilpatrick June 20, 2012 6:17 PM

With the advent of the World Wide Web and the ability to access it from almost anywhere via a variety of electronic devices more and more business is being done electronically. The simple convenience of it trumps many of the benefits that come from face to face interactions.

However, even though people do not do much business in person they still want to feel like they mean something to the business. They still want to feel like they are being taken care; they don’t want to be viewed as a transaction number. For them it needs to be personal.

The personal touch is very important to business done online. With what can be done with websites these days along with the many social media tools that are available companies can almost be warmer and more inviting online than they are in person.

Most companies within the self storage industry have fully embraced the World Wide Web and are active participants on a number of social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and so many more. One company, StorageMart, even has its own YouTube channel where they post all sorts of videos related to the self storage industry.

With the right kind of website a company can do a lot more than just tell people where they are located or how to contact them. More and more are starting to be able to take reservations online and some are even able to take payments.

Lots of self storage companies will include information on their site geared towards helping visitors and potential tenants understand the self storage industry. Many will include packing and moving tips as well. It’s not uncommon to find many with blogs with all sorts of helpful and interesting information related to moving and storage.

Zippy Shell Mobile Self Storage and Moving recently announced that it was launching a new website with the intent of making it more user friendly to tenants as well as a better business tool for its respective franchises. Along with a blog the company has added a number of features to help tenants figure out what their self storage needs are.

The company has also added and made more promminet Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Flickr and YouTube buttoms to give users easier access to a wide variety of social media tools. An RSS Feed is now available for those that don’t want to miss out on a thing that Zippy Shell Mobile Self Storage does.

“Our new web site highlights the benefits of franchising a Zippy Shell Mobile Self-Storage business,” said Ben Taylor, Director of Marketing, Zippy Shell USA. “Our management team is always looking for new ways to give our franchises a competitive advantage. We believe our new web site provides that advantage and strengthens the small business franchise opportunity we offer.”
