North Dallas Moving and Storage Supports the Mavericks Summer Hoop Camp

When the NBA Finals are going on, basketball fans are glued to their televisions cheering and rooting for their favorite teams. Will their team win? Will a team member be injured and unable to finish playing in the finals? Just exactly who will be the next NBA champions?

Many times this basketball fever spills over from the parents to their children – and the children dream of becoming great basketball stars like the ones they see playing on TV. Kids in northern Texas have the opportunity of working on their dream by attending a weeklong NBA training camp.

The Dallas Mavericks sponsor an annual Hoop Camp for boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 18 years of age. It is open to kids of all skill levels and enrollment is limited to ensure a player-to-coach ratio of 10-1.

And what does this have to do with the self storage business, you might ask? Plenty – if you are the North Dallas Moving and Storage (NDMS) company. Let me explain.

These basketball camps last one week. They begin the first week of June and go through the middle of August. The camps are held in different locations around the Dallas Metroplex.

Because the camps are held in different locations, camp organizers need all of their equipment moved from location to location. That’s where the North Dallas Moving and Storage company comes in.

NDMS partners with the Mavericks each weekend to move all of the camp’s equipment to the next week’s camp location. The NDMS drivers and movers donate their time and trucks to move and set up all of the portable hoops and other equipment that is used during the camps.

The Mavs hoop camp is the only authentic NBA instructional camp in Dallas. The coaches are highly skilled in coaching and basketball and have the ability to work well with children.

In addition to improving their basketball skills, each camper receives a voucher for 2 tickets to a Mavs pre-season game, a camp jersey, a camp certificate and special photograph, and personalized trading cards.

The North Dallas Moving and Storage plays a vital part in the program. “This is just one way we are able to give back to the community,” says Brandon Morris, President of North Dallas Moving and Storage. “Our movers and drivers really enjoy helping the Mavericks put on this camp each year.”

The Mavericks were the NBA champions in 2011. They have also won three division titles (in 1987, 2007, and 2010) and two conference championships (in 2006 and 2011).

The Mavs are ranked #4 in the team valuation. Their team value is $497 million. (The Chicago Bulls are valued at $600 million, the New York Knicks at $780 million, and the Los Angeles Lakers at a cool $900 million.)
