StorageMart Announces Contest Winners

by Holly Robinson July 9, 2012 7:25 AM

StorageMart announced the winners of their “Show and Tell and Win” All-Star Game giveaway. Mitchell D of Willoughby, Ohio will receive passes to attend the 2012 MLB All-Star Game FanFest at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Tammy L of Kansas City and Bryson N of Lincoln, Nebraska will each receive four tickets and parking passes to upcoming Kansas City Royals home games.

Contest entrants shared photos of their favorite baseball-related memories: a foul ball they caught, an autographed scorecard, ticket stubs to a World Series game, a Little League trophy, a baseball glove they received as a child. Winners were chosen based on originality, team spirit, and the best use of storage and organization for their keepsakes, souvenirs, collectibles, and memorabilia.

This is the 83rd year of the all-star game and the third time that Kansas City has hosted the All-Star game.  The All-Star game has evolved from just a simple baseball game into a several days’ gala event in the city that hosts the game. This year is no different. It’s a great time for baseball fans to celebrate all things baseball and to enjoy a great game.

Each day of the FanFest has a theme. Friday was Military Appreciation Day. Saturday was Kids Day. Sunday was the Kansas City Tribute Day featuring live music by local musicians. Today is Legacy Day where the Negro Leaguers will display artifacts from the league and hold a Q-and-A all day. Tomorrow will be All-Star Legends Day with appearances from 1960 and 1973 All-Stars. Then of course tomorrow night at 7 p.m. will be the big event.

Kansas City is also holding many events during the FunFest that appeal to baseball fans of all ages and all types. Here is a small list of some of the activities:

  • Baseball clinics by former baseball players
  • Mascot Derby where team mascots try to slug a home-run out of the ballpark
  • Fans practicing in the state-of-the-art batting cages
  • Award display of the 16 official Major League trophies
  • Playing a digital simulation of baseball against the current MLB pitchers
  • Learn a bit of baseball history through the Negro Leaguers
  • Baseball signing by the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League

Winners of StorageMart’s contest will be sure to have a grand-slam time when they go to Kansas City for the All-Star game!
