A Glimpse into the Workspaces of a Social Media Influencer

At Home with Lory Bernstein

Lory Bernstein, Instagram influencer and design blogger at Designthusiasm.com, did a one-day takeover of Extra Space Storage’s Instagram account to give us a behind-the-scenes look at how she uses different spaces in her home as a blogger and social media influencer. Lory goes from room to room as the day goes on to accomplish each day’s work tasks.

“Believe it or not I love to start my day working from bed!,” Lory says. With her laptop and to-do lists spread out, she finds she’s most productive at the start of the day in a space infused with sunlight and fresh flowers by her bedside. Working in a cozy space surrounded by pillows along a tufted headboard helps add a dose of coziness as well.

Breakfast Room

After she spends her morning upstairs in a relaxed space for some initial morning motivation, Lory heads downstairs and takes a seat at the kitchen table. “This is where I do my emails and social media,” she says. “The mix of French chairs always transport me to a cafe in France.” After a bite to eat, Lory gets ready for an afternoon of intense creative work.

Home Office

By mid-afternoon, Lory tucks away into her home office space. This is where she gets down to business—often focused on photo-editing. “My French desk is the centerpiece of this space,” Lory says. “I find it essential to have a room that can hold all my reference material, as one cannot work by laptop alone,” she adds, alluding to the ample storage space in the bookcase behind her desk.

Family Room

By late afternoon or early evening, Lory moves to her family room den to do her daily wrap-up and plan her styling work for the next day. “By this point, my feet are up on the table and I sink into that huge sofa and wind down before it’s time to start dinner,” she notes. Lory aims to stay quite creative when working in this space, nestled into her couch, which she says is the most relaxed place to work for her.
