Announcing Extraordinary Employee of the Quarter Winners for Q3 2024

At Extra Space Storage, our employees are our most valuable asset. Whether they’re working at our National Solutions Center or managing our storage facilities nationwide, it’s the dedication and passion of our team that drives our success every day.

Each quarter, we celebrate the hard work and commitment of our team through the Extraordinary Employees of the Quarter award. This recognition goes beyond simply doing the job—it honors those who truly exemplify our core values. Nominations for these awards come directly from fellow employees, leaders, and departments, making this recognition especially meaningful.

Below, we’re excited to share the winners from Q3 2024, along with the heartfelt nominations from their peers!

Elisa Ramier — Sr. Disaster Management Manager

I would like to nominate Elisa Ramier because of her work ethic, willingness to help others, innovation, dedication, teamwork, and attitude. I needed technical help getting the Standards Manual set up online so it could be shared with other teams and partners. This document was very important and needed to be published as soon as possible. While doing some training in Salt Lake, I stopped in to say hi to Elisa and told her what I was working on and some struggles I was having with getting the Standards Manual online. Elisa volunteered to give me a hand. She is obviously very busy with her work, with the many recent natural disasters. Not only did she help me create the web page and set up permissions, but she also created a Manual Request Form and a database to track who and when the manual was shared with third parties. Elisa did much of this work after her regular work hours. She exhibited true teamwork, expertise, and an overall attitude of cheerfulness by putting the company’s needs above hers.

Jordan Rasmussen — Operations Specialist

We are incredibly grateful for Jordan Rasmussen, who consistently shows up when we need her the most. In the last quarter, Jordan has been asked to step in and support different aspects of store transitions. Each time, she has embraced the additional responsibilities with a positive attitude. Jordan has a remarkable ability to stay composed no matter what is thrown her way or happening around her, which is critical to what our team does. I am proud to work with Jordan and continually impressed by how she quietly contributes to our team’s success.

Tyler Cichos — Sr. Third-Party Relationships Regional Manager

Tyler continues to go above and beyond for the Partner Services Group. While constantly providing white glove service for third-party owners, he has played a critical role in developing the Partner Services group. With the team’s growth, Tyler has assisted in integrating various new managers and associates into the team to get them the appropriate training, understand the values of Extra Space, and learn how to advocate for Extra Space and the third-party owners. Tyler has continued to take on additional responsibilities with managing new relationships and projects and handling communication with hundreds of ownership groups.

Justin Lackey — Sr. District Manager

We’re ecstatic to recognize Justin Lackey for his phenomenal leadership! It would take a book to fully capture Justin’s remarkable achievements, but here are some highlights. During the challenging transition of the Storage Express branded stores in the Midwest, Justin truly excelled. In August, we transitioned over 70 stores and trained over 80 new hires to our division. While the Division Vice President was on leave, Justin stepped up to ensure smooth operations and meet every deadline, making it look effortless while still driving exceptional performance. He hosted weekly calls, supported peers, and reported to multiple departments and vendors along the way. No matter the situation, he always says, “Whatever you or the team need, I got you.” He has helped other markets with hiring events and completed overnight audits in other divisions, all while he and his team stay atop the leaderboards. Justin is an extraordinary leader who repeatedly goes above and beyond for his team, the division, and the company. These, among many more reasons, are what makes Justin extraordinary!

Steve Goltz — District Manager

I’m proud to nominate Steve Goltz for an Extraordinary Award. Steve delivered excellence in countless ways. He accepted a huge challenge by taking on an additional 10 stores in his district that needed a lot of support. Steve received this challenge with open arms and immediately got to work. These 10 sites are now consistently leading my division in reviews. Even more impressive, the turnover in this district is now less than 20%. Steve also delivered top-of-the-division engagement results, with every category beating last year. A Store Manager shared this message in his nomination, “You could tell he had a passion for seeing growth in all of his charges. More than that, you could tell that he cared about your well-being as a team member and as a human. I have had many managers throughout my life, and I have never once had one that excelled as much as he did.” And if all of that isn’t enough to believe Steve deserves this recognition, he also supported a second District Team Lead to District Manager in Training. Steve is an incredible teammate who shows us daily what excellence looks like. I’m proud to have him on my team!

Stuart Sanders — District Manager

Stuart has admirably taken on the added responsibility of managing both his original district and a new district. Despite this increased workload, he has consistently maintained the performance of both districts. Moreover, he has proactively addressed our district’s staffing shortages by recruiting top-tier talent. This strategic move has significantly alleviated the burden on our existing team, enabling us to achieve a better work-life balance. We can return to work refreshed and focused with confidence in our coverage during absences. Stuart’s exceptional performance and dedication have substantially impacted our district, transforming it into a more desirable workplace.

Steven Arri — Sr. Customer Service Agent

Steven has been a resource for assistance and encouragement from day one. He is always there to offer a helpful hand and kind words. Steven shares his caring and understanding words when discussing different situations we might encounter with customers and shows great compassion no matter the issue. He is always striving to do the right thing and is not afraid to ask for guidance when he does not know the answer to a question. Having moved from an agent role where he collaborated with multiple teams to a senior agent, Steven now shares his passion for teamwork and customer care with a broader range of employees and assists with leading training sessions. Steven was the first one to step up and take the lead in providing our agents with service tips and best practices, as well as assisting and taking on our service mentor program. Along with his daily tasks, Steven reviewed the current email template process we use and noticed we could streamline communication a little more effectively—he took this on and updated our templates, benefiting our greater team.
