This year, we are thrilled to celebrate the 25-year work anniversary of Liz Guzman, a Store Manager in Virginia who has made a tremendous impact throughout her career in the self storage industry.
Liz’s journey began in 1999, though her connection to the industry started unofficially back in 1995 when she would assist her friend, the Store Manager at Uncle Bob’s Storage in Virginia. When her friend moved away, Liz stepped in temporarily to help the new manager. Her natural efficiency and ability to handle customers so effectively quickly led to a full-time offer, and Liz has been a valuable member of the storage community ever since.
Originally from Honduras, Liz spent 25 years living in Massachusetts before settling in Virginia, where she has now called home for the last 31 years. Over the course of her career, she has worked with Uncle Bob’s Storage, Life Storage, and now Extra Space Storage. Through it all, Liz’s favorite part of her job has always been helping customers in need of storage solutions. She takes great pride in keeping her facility clean and organized while also ensuring she provides excellent customer service. Additionally, her bilingual abilities have made her an essential resource, allowing her to assist both English and Spanish-speaking customers seamlessly.
Liz’s dedication to her role is evident in her approach to work. She focuses on maintaining a positive attitude, staying efficient, and upholding her values of integrity and doing things the right way. “If I wasn’t good at my job, I wouldn’t still be here,” Liz shared. She takes feedback seriously and always strives to meet her goals, an attitude that has earned her recognition and respect from her colleagues and customers alike.
“Liz has been incredibly self-sufficient and confident in her role in the short time I’ve known her,” said Fred Keiper, Extra Space Storage District Manager. “She strives for operational excellence and is direct in her feedback. Whenever there’s been a site issue, she’s immediately on top of it and typically resolves it on her own. Her customers appreciate her, and the care Liz puts into maintaining her facility shows. I’m very thankful to have her on our team!”
