Extra Space Storage Recognized Among America’s Best Customer Service Companies in 2022

Extra Space Storage is honored to be recognized once again among Newsweek’s 2022 list for America’s Best Customer Service. This year the list includes 581 retailers across 16 industries, including self storage.

“We support well over a million customers nationwide with their storage needs,” said Brett Boot, Director of Customer Experience. “When customers come to us for storage, we don’t always know what they are experiencing in their lives. Some simply need more space, but others may be experiencing the loss of a loved one or facing the challenge of a major move. Whatever the reason, because of the amazing people at Extra Space, we know they will always be taken care of.”

From the National Solutions Center in Salt Lake City, UT, to our store managers located across the country in 41 states, Extra Space Storage team members are invested in building strong connections with customers and providing a consistent experience at every interaction.

“So many of our people were doing so much good, and we wanted to recognize that,” Boot continued. “That’s why we created the monthly Customer Care Award.”

Launched in September 2020, the Customer Care Award is a way to recognize employees across the country at stores and the National Solutions Center who go above and beyond in caring for customers. Each month, two outstanding team members are recognized with a company-wide announcement and sent a personalized care package from the Extra Space Storage Customer Experience team.

The award highlights simple but impactful acts of kindness like Mika Carter, an Inbound Sales Representative, who stayed on the phone with a customer past regular operating hours to clear up uncertainty over the location’s address. And Wynona Adams, a Store Manager who brings the personal touch all the way out to the island of Kauai, HI. In the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Adams made a lasting impression on a customer by contacting them within minutes of their online reservation to ensure they had all the information they needed for a smooth move-in.

Extra Space Storage believes its people and culture are the key differentiators that set them apart, and these stories are evidence of that. “The reason we’re recognized across the country for our customer service is simple—it’s because of our people,” Boot concluded.
