It’s been a record year at Extra Space Storage, and we’re thrilled to be recognized on the Utah Business Fast 50 list for 2022. The annual ranking recognizes established companies based on a combination of revenue growth and total revenue. We’re the largest public company headquartered in Utah with a current market cap of 27B and one of the fastest growing companies in the state year-over-year.
“Our company, since its inception, has been a growth-oriented company,” shared Zachary Dickens, Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer. “Throughout the years, we’ve looked at opportunities to keep expanding and growing. Part of that has to do with our systems, our technology, and our people.”
In the past year, our portfolio grew to well over 2,000 locations across 41 states in the U.S. Occupancy of our storage units also hit a new high of 97.2% due to robust demand and low vacancy rates. Thanks to our team’s stellar execution in almost every area of the business, we increased revenue and made meaningful improvements to our product and technology.
“Probably the most important component is the people component,” Dickens continued. They come to work every day and have a mindset of how they’re going to grow the company. I think that’s made all the difference for us.”
In 2022, our team received other extraordinary honors, including America’s Best Customer Service by Newsweek and America’s Best Midsize Employers by Forbes. Senior Vice President of People Whitney Harper was recognized for her contributions with Utah Business’ HR Achievement Award, and Vice President of Legal Kirk Grimshaw received the Corporate Counsel Award from Utah Business. Inside Self-Storage recognized our Third-Party Management team with a Best of Business Award, and finally, Utah Business also recognized our Social Media team for Best Social Media Campaign.
