Each month at Extra Space Storage, we recognize employees who go above and beyond in caring for our customers with our Customer Care Award. We’re happy to announce Erika Hernandez and Kimberly Muñoz as the April 2023 recipients.

Erika Hernandez, Store Manager

Store Manager Erika Hernandez consistently surpasses expectations, as evidenced by this glowing customer review. Her extensive knowledge of customer needs and the self storage industry shines through in every interaction. Unsurprisingly, customers feel a genuine connection with Erika, as she takes the time to engage with them during their visits to the property. She embodies the Extra Space customer experience principles of Care, Appreciate, and Inform, making her an exceptional representative of our commitment to outstanding service.

Erika is a gem. She knows her customers and provides excellent customer service. She also knows the business and her facility, which was more than demonstrated in her interactions with me. When I moved out it was like leaving a friend—something I didn’t expect at a storage unit.

Often you will find Erika on the property, checking in with customers and how their stay has been and lifting any concerns that could be customer-impacting. Kimberly Muñoz, Inbound Sales Representative

Despite this customer’s challenges conducting business over the phone, Sales Representative Kimberly Muñoz provided a refreshing and supportive experience. Her patience and calm approach truly made a difference. Providing customer service over the phone requires special attention to adjust our communication style, as we lack the advantage of body language and facial expressions. Focusing on tone, clarity, and empathy in verbal interactions becomes crucial to ensure adequate understanding and that we meet our customers’ needs. Kimberly’s passion for her job is appreciated by both customers and colleagues alike!

I am extremely hard of hearing, and conducting business on the phone is difficult at best. I spoke with Kimberly today to rent a unit and she was amazing! Her patience and calmness were so refreshing, and I can’t tell you enough how much I appreciated her and how impressed I was with her customer service skills.
