Extra Space Storage recently claimed the #9 spot on JUST Capital’s 2020 Rankings in the Real Estate industry category, coming in at 315 out of 922 companies overall. This annual list features the largest publicly-traded companies in the U.S. and reflects their performance on the issues that matter most in today’s business world. These issues are determined and weighed by polling the American public.

The methodology used by JUST Capital consists of a four-step process, including survey research, company evaluation, company data review, and rankings. Qualitative and quantitative focus groups and surveys are conducted with a representative sample of the American public to understand which issues represent just corporate behavior and how the issues should be defined, along with their relative importance.

Since 2015, JUST Capital has surveyed more than 96,000 Americans about their beliefs on what U.S. companies should prioritize. According to the survey results, Americans want corporations to focus on their workers, customers, communities, and the environment just as much as they focus on their shareholders. Among this year’s top priorities determined by those surveyed were fair wages, ethical business practices, and providing work-life balance.

Extra Space Storage scored above average in the categories of Workers, Customers, and Shareholders. We believe this is thanks to our ability to create and sustain quality jobs for our employees, provide a positive service experience for our customers, and demonstrate value for our shareholders.

This is yet another wonderful accolade for our self storage organization this year. We were proud to be recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best Midsize Employers, as well as ranked in both the Utah Business 2019 Fast 50 and Utah 100 Top Revenue Growth Companies lists. Our CEO Joe Margolis was also named among Glassdoor’s Top CEOS 2019.
