Extra Space Storage recently completed an upgrade for a self storage facility in San Diego, CA at 3808 Cedar St. The project team initially explored expansion opportunities at the site, but ultimately, it made the most sense to focus on rebranding and other updates to the existing footprint. Danny Morris led the project as Deal Captain and Program Manager, and Rob Burns led the design.
Although the project didn’t require major construction, there was still an extensive list of upgrades to accomplish. The office space was outdated and had a mix of branding from previous projects and ownership. The entire property, including the office, got a fresh coat of paint to incorporate our identifiable wasabi green and modern grays. And the office interior was updated with a more efficient layout, new workstations, and fresh branding.
Additional improvements included fresh hallway paint and carpet tiles for indoor units, and asphalt repairs and a seal coat for exterior units. The team worked with city engineers to expand front property parking, but unfortunately, it wasn’t possible. Even so, they were able to expand the lot slightly for added vehicle maneuverability. Finally, new roofs, gates, and signage topped off the list.
“I’m proud of the involvement and collaboration between the Operations team, Store Manager Cliff Borem, and Facility Service Manager Josh Ludington,” said Morris. “Permits took three times longer than expected due to COVID-19 delays, but the team came together and pulled off a successful project!”
Thank you to the project team, store leaders, and the Extra Space Storage Operations team for making the expansion of 3808 Cedar St in San Diego a success!
