I’ve been an Extra Space Storage customer for 5 years – renting out a 10x10 climate-controlled unit. The facility is top notch and the management team has always been particularly friendly and helpful, especially Brandon. That said, I ended my lease with them today because of the constant price increases. Since I started renting here, the prices have gone up 229% compared to an inflation rate of 23% over the same period. Part of that is going from the introductory web rate to “normal” rates. That initial increase was expected and fine with me. But since then, Extra Space Storage have been issuing non-stop price increases – the latest being 24%! I expect prices to go up, but these increases are over 6x the inflation rate! Please note, local management has limited control over these price increases so it’s not their fault. In summary, the facility is 5 stars, the staff and service are 5 stars. The price increases and value for money, 0 stars.
